Encounter breaks out in Bandipora woods | KNO

Bandipora, Aug 03 (KNO): A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces in Chandaji area of North kashmir's Bandipora district on Tuesday morning. A senior police officer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that a Joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation after “specific inputs” about the presence of militants in forest area of Chandaji. “As the security forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter,” he said. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir police in a Tweet also confirmed that encounter has started at Chandaji area of Bandipora. "Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," the police Tweeted—(KNO)
